Christa Pike conscious after surviving Tennessee execution attempt
Christa Pike, 50, is "conscious and speaking" after surviving two lethal injections on Sept. 30 in Tennessee, her attorneys said Oct. 6. She remains in a Nashville hospital receiving critical care while handcuffed. Convicted of the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, her lawyers called recovery "medically unprecedented" with unclear prognosis.
