
Chicago woman shot by Border Patrol agent sues U.S. government
Marimar Martinez, a U.S. citizen shot seven times by Border Patrol Agent Charles Exum in Chicago on Oct. 4, 2025, announced a lawsuit against the United States on Oct. 5, 2026, under the Federal Tort Claims Act. The shooting occurred during Operation Midway Blitz. Prosecutors initially charged Martinez, then moved to dismiss a month later.
