Hydro cuts Alunorte alumina output to 50% on gas disruption
Norsk Hydro's Alunorte refinery in Brazil cut alumina output to 50% of capacity in August 2026 after supplier CELBA, part of New Fortress Group, flagged disruptions to natural gas availability, Hydro said. Hydro said the financial impact remains uncertain. Alunorte is the world's largest alumina refinery and a key low-carbon feed source for Hydro's smelters.
