Australian soldier killed, five injured in Northern Territory training exercise

One Australian Army soldier died and five others were injured during a training exercise at Mount Bundey Training Area, about 100km south-east of Darwin, on 5 October 2026. Defence confirmed the casualties on 6 October. Next of kin has been notified, the soldier has not been publicly named, and the cause remains undisclosed.
