English Heritage acquires rare 1966 Battle of Hastings re-enactment footage

English Heritage has acquired rare colour footage of the inaugural Battle of Hastings re-enactment, held 14 October 1966 for the 900th anniversary. Filmed by Alan Wootton at Hastings town council's invitation with help from his son Cliff, the 300 reels from fields outside Battle have been condensed into a 12-minute film. The archive shows how a town filmed itself remembering.
