Fugitive Who Faked Death to Evade Rape Charges Dies in Utah Prison

Nicholas Rossi, also known as Nicholas Alahverdian, died in a Utah state prison on 26 June 2026 while serving a minimum five-year sentence for sexual assault. The Rhode Island man had staged his own death to flee rape charges, resurfaced in Scotland, fought extradition in Scottish courts, and was ultimately convicted in August 2025 of assaulting two women. He died before completing his sentence.
