UK diesel hits £2 a litre for first time

UK average diesel reached 200.01p per litre on 2 October 2026, topping £2 for the first time, the RAC reported. Forecourt prices have risen sharply since late February, when the US-Israel war on Iran began disrupting Gulf crude and refined supplies. Filling an average family car now costs £110, nearly £32 more than before the war.
