Christa Pike Survives Lethal Injection in Tennessee

Christa Pike, 50, survived two doses of lethal drugs during her Sept. 30 execution in Nashville, Tennessee. The Death Penalty Information Center said she is the first person in capital punishment history to survive injection. Convicted for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer, Pike complained of burning before losing consciousness but kept breathing. She remains hospitalized in critical condition.
