
Greece Urges EU to Allow Asylum Suspensions During Migration Surges
Greece asked EU interior ministers in Luxembourg to allow temporary suspension of asylum applications during mass migration surges, alongside enhanced border surveillance. The Netherlands backed the idea. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen promised an emergency framework, while Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner said international law and fundamental rights must be respected.
