AMD to Acquire World Labs for $8.2 Billion to Advance AI Systems

AMD announced September 28 it will acquire San Francisco-based World Labs, with Reuters reporting an $8.2 billion all-stock price expected to close by end of 2026. AMD said the lab's AI model research will help develop hardware, software and systems and shape future AI infrastructure. World Labs said it signed a definitive agreement to join AMD.
