Anthropic Says Claude Discovered New CRISPR-Related Enzyme System

Anthropic says Claude autonomously identified a previously uncharacterized enzyme system related to CRISPR machinery in bacteriophages. The find, disclosed Sept. 23, is the first result from its new wet lab. Claude surfaced the pattern from a massive DNA sequence database, with scientists limited to the initial prompt and lab work. Function remains unknown.
