Nearly Half of Australians 18-29 Lived With Parents in 2024

Just under half of Australians aged 18-29 lived with parents in 2024, up from 39% in 2001, the HILDA survey published 23 September 2026 found. Young men were more likely to stay home; 36% of those at home studied full-time. I see family housing absorbing pressure from study, jobs and rents, with costs shifting to parents.
