England's £233m farming scheme closed after under six hours

The BBC said thousands of farmers in England missed out after the £233m Sustainable Farming Incentive closed in under six hours. It said applications opened at 10:00 BST on 22 September and the budget was exhausted by 15:48. The scheme pays farmers for nature-friendly work such as planting hedges and protecting soil.
