U.S. authorized for two new Greenland bases under September 22 defence deal

The United States, Denmark and Greenland signed a defence deal September 22, 2026 at the UN General Assembly in New York. It authorizes U.S. Defence Areas at Narsarsuaq and Mestersvig and modernization and expansion at Pituffik Space Base. The pact amends the 1951 agreement and reaffirms Danish sovereignty over Greenland.
