UK brings first charges over 1994 genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda

The Crown Prosecution Service said on 21 September 2026 it charged north London resident Dr Vincent Brown over the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Prosecutors say it is the first such case brought in the UK. How British courts handle atrocity crimes committed abroad is now the question to watch.
