Emmy-winning Atlanta journalist deported to El Salvador after 100-day detention

Mario Guevara, an Emmy-winning Salvadoran journalist who ran an Atlanta Spanish-language outlet for nearly two decades, was arrested covering a June 2025 "No Kings" protest. He spent more than 100 days in detention, mostly in isolation, then was deported to El Salvador, leaving his wife and children in the US. DHS denies targeting him as a journalist.
