Forest Fire Burns 40 Hectares Above Villa de Leyva, Threatening Tourist Town

A forest fire on Cerro San Marcos above Villa de Leyva, Boyaca, has consumed 40 hectares of native forest and remained active Sept. 19. Smoke is visible from the central square of the town, which draws more than a million visitors annually. Authorities say the hillside blaze threatens the town.
