Government could sign $1b-plus LNG contract during election campaign

Energy Minister Simeon Brown said the government could still sign a contract for the proposed Port Taranaki LNG terminal during the election campaign. No contract has been signed and enabling legislation is yet to be introduced. Leasing the facility is expected to cost more than $1 billion over 15 years.
