Parliament passes military-style academy sentencing bill under urgency

Parliament passed the Oranga Tamariki (Responding to Serious Youth Offending) Amendment Bill under urgency on Thursday night, RNZ reported. The Bill gives the Youth Court power to sentence serious young offenders to Military-Style Academies. Minister for Children Karen Chhour said it will be the most intensive response available to the court.
