AI alliance says flexible load could unlock 100 GW of data centers

Google, Nvidia, Anthropic and Emerald AI have formed the AI Energy Management Alliance, announced Sept. 16, with utilities including AES, Constellation, National Grid and NRG Energy. The group says software to pause noncritical tasks and shift loads to sites with headroom could allow an additional 100 GW of data centers to connect.
