Labour joins National and ACT to pass India FTA bill

National, ACT and Labour voted for the India Free Trade Agreement Legislation Amendment Bill, while New Zealand First, the Greens and Te Pāti Māori voted against it. Parliament in Wellington finalised the legislation, which enables the India free trade agreement, in the sitting week to 17 September 2026. Trade Minister Todd McClay spoke in support at third reading.
