Labor promises net migration cut to 245,000 this year, 225,000 by 2027-28

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke has unveiled immigration changes promising Australia's net overseas migration of 245,000 this financial year and 225,000 in 2027-28. The ABS puts the figure at 292,000 in the year to March. Canberra loves a target; making the numbers stick is the hard bit.
