Labour backs Government to pass India FTA as NZ First votes against

Parliament passed legislation to implement the New Zealand-India FTA on 16 September 2026. Labour voted with the Government for the bill, according to RNZ. New Zealand First voted against, alongside the Greens, Te Pāti Māori and two independents. Both New Zealand and India must still complete ratification before the agreement comes into force.
