Breville's Eye Q toaster browns bread by measured color rather than timer duration, which Engadget described as the world's first toaster that works on color instead of time. Built-in optical sensors track the slice 10 times per second, stopping at one of seven selected shades. Motorized loading replaces the manual lever.
