The RAC warned of more potholes after the UK's hottest summer on record. Head of policy Simon Williams said intense heat and UV oxidise bitumen, leaving roads brittle and prone to cracking. It follows back-to-back heatwaves above 38C, with only half of roads in England and Wales in good condition, the Asphalt Industry Alliance said.
