More than 1 million Britons left paid work to care for ageing, ill and disabled loved ones in the past two years, about 1,500 exits a day, according to Carers UK research. The exit rate has doubled in seven years. With 6.7 million employees juggling work and care, further withdrawals could tighten labour supply.
