
2,000 Romanian Farmers Clash With Police in Bucharest Over Export Ban
About 2,000 farmers and shepherds clashed with riot police outside Romania's government building in Bucharest on Sept. 15, 2026. Protesters threw rocks, metal barriers and other objects; police used tear gas. Twenty-six were detained and 24 needed medical care, four hospitalized. The protest opposed the EU's extended live sheep and goat export ban.
