UK Proposes Mandatory Meetings Before Refusing Flexible Work Requests

First Secretary of State Louise Haigh announced on 15 September 2026 at the TUC conference in Brighton that UK bosses seeking to refuse flexible working requests would have to meet staff, consider requests properly and explain refusals. All UK employees already can request flexible work. Employers must consider requests reasonably.
