Compromised HBO Max Reddit ad account pushed hundreds of fake ads

Attackers compromised HBO Max's authorized Reddit advertising account and used it to post hundreds of fake ads linking to a lookalike HBO Max page, researchers at Hudson Rock found. Reddit confirmed the compromise to TechCrunch. The campaign was reported September 14, 2026.
