13-year-old needed three surgeries after rabid beaver attack in Maryland park

Dominick Cebula, 13, was attacked by a beaver while swimming at Cunningham Falls State Park in Thurmont, Maryland, on July 26, 2026. Airlifted to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, he underwent three surgeries for nerve damage to chest and hands. The beaver was euthanized and confirmed rabid; Cebula received post-exposure shots.
