Former Cabinet Secretary Wormald received record £859,495 pay-off

Lord Wormald received £859,495 on leaving as Cabinet Secretary, the head of the Civil Service, in February. The Cabinet Office said £332,897 was contractual compensation and £526,598 additional severance. The Financial Times described the total as a record pay-off. The accounts said most of the severance protected his pension at full retirement value.
