Jefferson County confirms measles death, apparently Pennsylvania's third in 2026

Jefferson County Coroner Greg Furlong confirmed Sept. 13 that a 40-year-old resident died of measles complications Sept. 12, the county's first such death. It appears to be Pennsylvania's third measles death in 2026, after two infants. The state's Sept. 11 update reported 676 cases and did not yet reflect this death. The coroner is working with state health officials.
