Police reviews cleared Labour candidate Naidoo, senior officer apologised

An internal police review found Rakesh Naidoo complied with policy, and a separate leak investigation cleared him entirely. Assistant Commissioner Tim Anderson apologised. Commissioner Richard Chambers declined to comment after the leak probe. Both Chambers and Police Minister Mark Mitchell had publicly criticised Naidoo's move into politics when his candidacy was announced in June. Naidoo told RNZ he would not do anything differently.
