NZ First pledges to restrict Super to citizens only from 2029

NZ First leader Winston Peters announced in Hamilton on 7 September that the party would restrict NZ Super to citizens only from 2029, citing affordability. Under current rules, permanent residents aged 65-plus qualify after living in Aotearoa for 10–20 years. The policy includes a three-year transition period. Migrant advocates including Asian Family Services chief executive Kelly Feng called the policy "unfair and inhumane."
