Google warns EU search overhaul will cause its largest-ever quality drop

Google said September 8 that its revamped EU search results, made to comply with the Digital Markets Act after an €890 million July fine, will produce the largest decrease in service quality in the search engine's history. The changes strip real-time pricing from travel and local results while elevating third-party vertical search engines, whose rankings Google's algorithm still controls. The Commission has not confirmed whether the format satisfies DMA requirements.
