Apple Repositions Siri as a Standalone AI Platform
Apple released Siri AI on June 9, now woven into iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and other platforms with a dedicated app—its first. The rebuilt assistant operates at the OS level with cross-app context access, departing from its predecessor's voice-interface model. Apple is also releasing APIs to let third-party AI chatbots interoperate with Siri, positioning the assistant layer as a platform rival to ChatGPT and Gemini. Developer testing began immediately, with public beta access planned later in 2026.
