Unlicensed gold mine landslide in Colombia kills 13

A landslide struck an unlicensed open-air gold mine near Policarpa, in Colombia's Nariño province, killing at least 13 workers and injuring seven. Witnesses reported hearing an explosion moments before the collapse. Locals and emergency workers recovered bodies using diggers. The site operated without state safety oversight — a condition shared by much of Colombia's artisanal mining sector, where an estimated 200,000–400,000 work outside formal regulation.
