Snap Opens Public Creator Tools to 16- and 17-Year-Olds

Snapchat now allows users aged 16 and 17 to publish content to public Stories and submit attributed videos to Spotlight, the platform's algorithmically ranked feed. The September 2024 change grants older teens access to public distribution with profile attribution for the first time, while younger users aged 13–15 remain restricted. The expansion operates within Snap's existing safety layers, including parental oversight through Family Center.
