Sony's 10-Game Live-Service Push Falls Short After Cancellations and Studio Closures

Sony aimed to ship 10 live-service games by March 2026. Deliveries fell well short: Naughty Dog cancelled The Last of Us multiplayer in 2023, Sony shut down Concord and Firewalk Studios, and Bungie ended active Destiny 2 development on June 9. Guerrilla Games is now stripping live-service elements from Horizon Hunters Gathering after poor playtest feedback, leaving PlayStation's pipeline with little room for error.
