DRC Ebola Death Toll Passes 2,000 in Fastest-Growing Outbreak on Record

The DRC's 2026 Ebola outbreak has killed 2,011 people across five provinces as of 11 August, with 4,381 confirmed cases. At least 1,000 deaths occurred in the preceding three weeks alone. Declared on 15 May, the outbreak is now the fastest-growing in the country's history and second only to the 2014–2016 West African epidemic, which killed 11,310.
