Aptoide becomes first rival app store to return to Google Play in the U.S.

Aptoide, a Portugal-based independent Android app marketplace with roughly 25 million monthly active users, returned to Google Play in the U.S. on August 10, 2026 — ending more than a decade during which American users had to sideload it. Court-ordered remedies from the Epic Games v. Google antitrust case forced the access. Annual cost to Aptoide: $5,000.
