Pentagon Commits $1.4B Loan to Sila for Silicon Anode Factory Expansion in Washington
The Pentagon's Office of Strategic Capital signed a $1.4 billion conditional loan commitment with Sila Nanotechnologies to finance a fivefold expansion of its Moses Lake, Washington silicon-carbon anode factory. The plant, operational since September 2025, would scale to supply material for over 100,000 EVs. Silicon anodes store 20–40% more energy than graphite, whose supply chain is dominated by Chinese companies.
