Poll: Half of Americans Back Proportional Representation for House

Half of 1,000 respondents in a Fix Our House/New America poll support shifting U.S. House elections to proportional representation — where seats match vote share — NPR reported August 10, 2026. Nearly a quarter opposed it; a third were unsure. Six in 10 Trump voters who expressed an opinion said they back the change, according to New America senior fellow Lee Drutman.
