Poll: Half of Americans Back Proportional Representation for U.S. House, Including Majority of Trump Voters

Half of 1,000 respondents in a Fix Our House/New America poll support moving U.S. House elections toward proportional representation, NPR reported August 10, 2026. Nearly a quarter opposed it; a third were unsure. Six in 10 Trump voters who expressed an opinion said they back the shift, according to New America senior fellow Lee Drutman. The poll was commissioned by reform advocates.
