Typhoon Dolphin hits China as 2026's strongest storm

Typhoon Dolphin struck near Yuhuan, Zhejiang on 9 August 2026 with 94 mph winds — China's most powerful cyclone this year. Over one million people were evacuated across eastern China; Wenzhou alone relocated 900,000. Before landfall, Dolphin injured six and cut power to 50,000 buildings in Okinawa. China's water resources ministry warned four rivers could see major flooding.
