Powerful typhoon hits China, forcing over a million to flee
Typhoon Dolphin — a huge spinning storm — hit near Yuhuan, Zhejiang on 9 August 2026 with 94 mph winds, making it China's strongest this year. Over one million people fled eastern China; Wenzhou alone moved 900,000. Earlier, the storm injured six and knocked out power to 50,000 buildings in Okinawa. Officials warned four rivers could flood badly.
