Roman Shipwreck Loaded With Amphorae Discovered Off Sicily

Italian police divers found a 2,100-year-old Roman shipwreck 46 metres deep off Mazara del Vallo, Sicily. The 21-by-6-metre vessel still holds hundreds of well-preserved amphorae — ceramic containers used to ship wine and oil. Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli called it one of the most important underwater archaeological discoveries of recent years.
