Roman Shipwreck With Hundreds of Intact Amphorae Found Off Sicily

Italian police divers found a roughly 2,100-year-old Roman shipwreck 46 metres deep off Mazara del Vallo, Sicily. The 21-by-6-metre vessel remains piled with hundreds of well-preserved amphorae — ceramic containers for wine and oil. Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli called it "one of the most important underwater archaeological discoveries of recent years."
