Blanche Pulls $1.8B Deal Before Narrow Confirmation

Todd Blanche rescinded a Justice Department deal creating a $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund" and granting the president, his sons, and his business tax immunity, days before his August 8, 2026 attorney general confirmation. Senator Murkowski called it a "slush fund." The reversal won just enough Republican backing for a 51–49 Senate vote.
