Appeals Court Halts White House Ballroom Project

A federal appeals court ruled 2-1 on Aug. 7, 2026, that the Trump administration must stop building a White House ballroom, finding the project requires congressional approval. The court delayed its order two weeks for a Supreme Court appeal. Trump called the decision "horrendous, politically motivated and unlawful" and said he would appeal immediately.
